Konjic

Konjic is a historic town on the banks of the Neretva River in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located between Sarajevo and Mostar. Surrounded by high mountains, deep forests and clear mountain air, Konjic represents the natural gateway from Bosnia to Herzegovina.

The Neretva flows directly through the center of the town, shaping its landscape, daily life and identity for centuries. The turquoise color of the river here is especially striking, as it descends from the wild upper canyons near Glavatičevo and the mountains of Prenj and Visočica.

The Old Stone Bridge

The most recognizable symbol of Konjic is its Ottoman stone bridge, built in the 17th century. This elegant bridge arches over the Neretva and connects the two sides of the town, offering one of the most picturesque views along the river. Destroyed during World War II and later carefully reconstructed, it stands today as a monument of heritage and continuity.

Rafting and Outdoor Life

Konjic is widely known as a starting point for rafting adventures on the upper Neretva. The fast, cold and crystal clear river, together with canyon landscapes formed between Konjic and Glavatičevo, makes this area one of the most attractive rafting destinations in the region.

Beyond rafting, the surroundings offer exceptional opportunities for hiking, mountain trekking and exploring untouched nature in the areas of Prenj, Visočica and Bjelašnica.

Woodcarving Tradition

Konjic is famous for its centuries old tradition of woodcarving. This unique craft, recognized as part of the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is still practiced by local artisans whose workshops can be visited in the town.
